Holy Quran is a Book of guidance that
contains knowledge and instructions aimed at helping humanity live their lives
on the pathway of righteousness till the end of life. Though, this must not lead
to the impression that Holy Quran is just full with prophecies of future,
rather Holy Quran includes the stories of the nations of the past on the basis
of which it conveys the ethical lesson to the reader. Holy Quran mentions different
nations that have come before in the globe and for the guidance of which ALLAH
Almighty sent His Messengers. When we learn and recite the Holy Quran we find
that all Messengers that came to the respective people and nations carried the
message of Tawheed or Oneness of ALLAH Almighty and told them about the accurate
path to follow in order to stay righteous and prosper in the globe hereafter.
In Holy Quran, there are mentions of 25
Prophets by their name including our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Hazrat Adam (AS):
Hazrat Adam (AS) was the first of
humans and also the Prophets. He was the one who was firstly sent to this world
and with him came the message of
ALLAH Almighty being the only Lord and all
the humans his subjects.
Hazrat Adam (AS) is first and foremost
known for the genesis of humanity and how the initial human was created. ALLAH Almighty
says about Him in the Holy Quran:
Verse 2:34 of Holy Quran
“And
behold, We said to the angels: “Bow down to Adam” and they bowed down. Not so
Iblees: he refused and was haughty: He was of those who reject faith (those who
are disobedient).”
From the ayah (verse) it is clear that Hazrat
Adam (AS) was the initial human creation of ALLAH Almighty, and Iblees was
expelled from the court of ALLAH Almighty because of not bowing (sajda) to Him.
Hazrat Nooh (AS):
Hazrat Nooh (AS) is also one of the well-known Prophets in the Islam.
The reason behind the fame of Hazrat Nooh (AS) is because of the occasion of
his making of an arch and the flood that came on earth in which only the beings
on the arch were secured. The narrations give various versions of the flood and
the creation of the arch, though, a Muslim requires understanding the backdrop
of that disaster as well, which was the people of Hazrat Nooh (AS) not
listening to his preaching and continue with sinful life. Holy Quran tells of
them in the following way:
Verse 29:14 of Holy Quran
And
We certainly sent Noah to his people, and he remained among them a thousand
years minus fifty years, and the flood seized them while they were wrongdoers.
Hazrat Saleh (AS):
Hazrat Saleh (AS) was the Prophet of ALLAH Almighty who was sent in the
nation of Thamud (samood). He is well-known for the event of when
ALLAH Almighty sent a she-camel for his
nation from which they would easily drink milk. They were allowed to drink from
camel but not to harm it or else punishment of ALLAH Almighty would befall on
them but they ignored the command of
ALLAH Almighty and the promised punishment
or penalty came to all of them and destroyed all. In the Holy Quran, the
mention of it is given as:
Verse 7:73 of Holy Quran
And
to the Thamud [We sent] their brother Salih. He said, "O my people,
worship ALLAH; you have no deity other than Him. There has come to you clear
evidence from your Lord. This is the she-camel of ALLAH [sent] to you as a
sign. So leave her to eat within ALLAH’S land and do not touch her with harm,
lest there seize you a painful punishment.
