PROPHETS AND HISTORICAL EVENTS IN THE HOLY QURAN (PART 2 )

Hazrat Ibraheem (AS):
Hazrat Ibraheem (AS) is one of the most well-known and popular Prophet. All Jews, Christians, and Muslims respect him and admit his Prophethood. ALLAH Almighty says about Him in Holy Quran Verse 4:125:

And who is better in religion than one who submits himself to ALLAH while being a doer of good and follows the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth? And ALLAH took Abraham as an intimate friend.

Hence, Hazrat Ibraheem (AS) was the one whom ALLAH Almighty befriended, therefore words fall short of explanation his greatness and all that he had sacrificed in the name of ALLAH Almighty and for the path of virtue.

Hazrat Yaqoob (AS):
Hazrat Yaqoob (AS) was the grandson of Hazrat Ibraheem (AS). He had the nickname ‘Israel’ and it is from him that the various tribes of Jews descent.
Hazrat Yaqoob (AS) is well-known for his twelve sons from whom the humankind sprung and then expanded to various parts of the world. He was a Prophet and taught the righteous path to His people and conveyed the similar message to His sons as well several of whom later on became Prophets. Holy Quran tells of his preaching to His sons in the following way, verse 2:133 of Holy Quran:

Or were you witnesses when death approached Jacob, when he said to his sons, "What will you worship after me?" They said, "We will worship your God and the God of your fathers, Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac - one God. And we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."

Hazrat Yousuf (AS):
Hazrat Yousuf (AS) is known for the unmatched and supreme beauty that he possessed and the impact of His beauty on the other people. There is the entire narration of his brothers ditching Him, He being tempted by His woman, his resistance to it and the resulting worldly punishments he faced. Though, the moral of the narrative is that sticking to the path of good does come with hardships but eventually it is the good that succeeds which occurred with Hazrat Yousuf (AS) who at the ending received all what he had lost. In Holy Quran, ALLAH Almighty says about Him:

“When Joseph attained his full manhood, We gave him power and knowledge: thus do We reward those who do right.”

Hazrat Moosa (AS):
Hazrat Moosa (AS) is the most famous Prophet of Jews, acknowledges in Christianity and respected in Islam same like as are all the other Prophets. There are many narrations concerning to Hazrat Moosa (AS) and how He preached his nation. The famed of them are; when Pharaoh ordered to murder all the boys because of the prediction of his dethroning yet Hazrat Moosa (AS) survived and grew up in the house of Pharaoh, when He spoke with ALLAH Almighty on Mount Toor (koh-e-Toor), the commandments He brought to His nation, the rescuing of the citizens from Pharaoh, all the inflictions that came on the people of Pharaoh because of not listening to Him and finally the drowning of Pharaoh and his military in the river Nile when they were in the chase of Hazrat Moosa (AS) and the people of Israel.

Hazrat Eesa (AS):
Muslims regard Hazrat Eesa (AS) is also the Prophet of ALLAH Almighty. In narrations Hazrat Eesa (AS) is well-known for his miracles the most excellent of them all is his being born without a father. In Holy Quran verse 3:59, ALLAH Almighty says:

“This similitude of Jesus before ALLAH is as that of Adam: He created him from dust, then said to him: “Be” and he was.”

In adding to his birth without a father, Hazrat Eesa (AS) is also famous for his converting water into wine, remedial leprosy and waking up of the dead.

PROPHETS AND HISTORICAL EVENTS IN THE HOLY QURAN (PART 1 )

Holy Quran is a Book of guidance that contains knowledge and instructions aimed at helping humanity live their lives on the pathway of righteousness till the end of life. Though, this must not lead to the impression that Holy Quran is just full with prophecies of future, rather Holy Quran includes the stories of the nations of the past on the basis of which it conveys the ethical lesson to the reader. Holy Quran mentions different nations that have come before in the globe and for the guidance of which ALLAH Almighty sent His Messengers. When we learn and recite the Holy Quran we find that all Messengers that came to the respective people and nations carried the message of Tawheed or Oneness of ALLAH Almighty and told them about the accurate path to follow in order to stay righteous and prosper in the globe hereafter.
In Holy Quran, there are mentions of 25 Prophets by their name including our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Hazrat Adam (AS):
Hazrat Adam (AS) was the first of humans and also the Prophets. He was the one who was firstly sent to this world and with him came the message of
ALLAH Almighty being the only Lord and all the humans his subjects.
Hazrat Adam (AS) is first and foremost known for the genesis of humanity and how the initial human was created. ALLAH Almighty says about Him in the Holy Quran:
Verse 2:34 of Holy Quran

“And behold, We said to the angels: “Bow down to Adam” and they bowed down. Not so Iblees: he refused and was haughty: He was of those who reject faith (those who are disobedient).”

From the ayah (verse) it is clear that Hazrat Adam (AS) was the initial human creation of ALLAH Almighty, and Iblees was expelled from the court of ALLAH Almighty because of not bowing (sajda) to Him.

Hazrat Nooh (AS):
Hazrat Nooh (AS) is also one of the well-known Prophets in the Islam. The reason behind the fame of Hazrat Nooh (AS) is because of the occasion of his making of an arch and the flood that came on earth in which only the beings on the arch were secured. The narrations give various versions of the flood and the creation of the arch, though, a Muslim requires understanding the backdrop of that disaster as well, which was the people of Hazrat Nooh (AS) not listening to his preaching and continue with sinful life. Holy Quran tells of them in the following way:
Verse 29:14 of Holy Quran

And We certainly sent Noah to his people, and he remained among them a thousand years minus fifty years, and the flood seized them while they were wrongdoers.

Hazrat Saleh (AS):
Hazrat Saleh (AS) was the Prophet of ALLAH Almighty who was sent in the nation of Thamud (samood). He is well-known for the event of when
ALLAH Almighty sent a she-camel for his nation from which they would easily drink milk. They were allowed to drink from camel but not to harm it or else punishment of ALLAH Almighty would befall on them but they ignored the command of
ALLAH Almighty and the promised punishment or penalty came to all of them and destroyed all. In the Holy Quran, the mention of it is given as:
Verse 7:73 of Holy Quran

And to the Thamud [We sent] their brother Salih. He said, "O my people, worship ALLAH; you have no deity other than Him. There has come to you clear evidence from your Lord. This is the she-camel of ALLAH [sent] to you as a sign. So leave her to eat within ALLAH’S land and do not touch her with harm, lest there seize you a painful punishment.
